"The Facts on Toxicity" (Dr. Rashid Buttar)

Did you know that most disease is a result of our toxic environment?  From the air we breathe to the water we drink to the food we eat, we are constantly being poisoned with toxic chemicals and heavy metals.  We are producing more and more toxic chemicals each and every year.  These toxic metals and chemicals accumulate in our bodies and cause countless degenerative diseases and general health problems.

According to my colleague and friend Dr. Rashid Buttar, D.O. Dr. Buttar is board certified and a Diplomat in Preventive Medicine and Clinical Metal Toxicology, is board eligible in Emergency Medicine and has achieved fellowship status in three separate medical organizations (Fellow of the American College for Advancement in Medicine, Fellow of the American Academy of Preventive Medicine, and Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine). Dr. Buttar is the medical director of Advanced Concepts in Medicine, a clinic specializing in the treatment of cancer, heart disease, and other chronic conditions with a special emphasis on the interrelationship between metal toxicity and insidious disease processes.

Dr. Buttar also serves as Director of Clinical Research and Development for V-SAB Medical Laboratories. He has previously been in charge of the national training program that leads to Board Certification in Clinical Metal Toxicology through the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology and has also served as a member of the 12 member National Metals Task Force. Dr. Buttar currently serves as the Chairman of the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology and is the President of the North Carolina Integrative Medical Society. He has been awarded the Physicians’ Recognition Award three times by the American Medical Association. Dr. Buttar has lectured world wide on these subjects at scientific congresses and professional symposiums, and is a frequently invited presenter at medical conferences. He has appeared and been featured in local, national and international media including newspapers, radio and TV.

2003 U.S. study by the CDC revealed the presence of 116 toxic chemicals in people of all ages. Dr. Buttar points to a July 2005 paper, released by the Environmental Working Group that confirms the worst fear: that the average person does not need to spend years being exposed to environmental pollutants to be affected (nor does the average child). In “Body Burden-The Pollution in Newborns,” EWG reported, “Not long ago scientists thought that the placenta shielded cord blood - and the developing baby - from most chemicals and pollutants in the environment. But now we know that at this critical time when organs, vessels, membranes and systems are knit together from single cells to finished form in a span of weeks, the umbilical cord carries not only the building blocks of life, but also a steady stream of industrial chemicals, pollutants and pesticides that cross the placenta as readily as residues from cigarettes and alcohol…In a study spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group in collaboration with Commonweal, researchers at two major laboratories found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in umbilical cord blood from 10 babies born in August and September of 2004 in U.S. hospitals. The umbilical cord blood of these 10 children, collected by The American Red Cross after the cord was cut, harbored pesticides, consumer product ingredients, and wastes from burning coal, gasoline, and garbage, known to cause cancer in humans, are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.”

This is a universal problem! The majority of healthcare  professionals would agree that the overwhelming majority of all disease affecting mankind is due to toxins in the body. Odds are overwhelming that you and your family are part of this statistic.
