The
following story is the real life account of
Vic Whiley, a man from New Zealand whom I have gotten to know
via email and the internet. He was diagnosed
with Stage IV cancer, a friend named Troy loaned him
my book, he read it, chose one of the
recommended treatments (Vitamin B17 via
apricot and apple seeds), and cured his
cancer.
This is his
story.
Part one
Introduction:
"Kia Ora" My name is
Victor Whiley I am a 59 year old Maori New
Zealander employed as a Registered Nurse on
an Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit.
My battle with cancer
started in February 2007 after a visit to
the local G.P. (Doctor) for my usual 6
monthly medical type 2 diabetes checkup.
A few days later my G.P.
rang and said he was referring me to the
main hospital for an ultra sound x-ray as he
was not happy with my blood test results.
I asked my G.P. what he
thought it could be and he replied that he
suspected that I may have Lymphoma and I
replied "you mean cancer of the lymph
glands" he said "yes".
Then I thought cancer,
what do I know about cancer, not a lot very
little except people who got cancer died.
At the time I had some
very close friends and family who were
having treatment for cancer and for most of
them their prognosis was not good. One thing
I do know is that people who smoked
cigarette's were at risk of getting cancer.
The advertisements read "smoking kills" and
smoking causes cancer.
I gave up smoking the day
my G.P. told me he suspected I had Lymphoma.
Further tests proved my G.P. to be correct.
"Testimonial"
The following testimonial
is a true and accurate account of how I over
came stage 4 cancer of the Lymph glands also
known as Hodgkins or Non - Hodgkins
Lymphoma. In my case my type of Lymphoma is
called Follicular Lymphoma or cancer of the
lymph nodes.
Make no mistake any type
of stage 4 cancer is serious it does not get
any worse. Stage 4 cancer is often referred
to as the terminal stage more like it's the
end of the road rather than the road to
recovery.
After I had the ultra
sound x-ray my Haematologist Doctor Issa a
kind and caring female doctor said I would
need to have further blood tests, a CT scan,
a lymph node biopsy, and a bone marrow
biopsy. The early indications showed that I
clearly had stage 1 Follicular Lymphoma.
On the 7th February 07 I
had a Lymph Node biopsy, then on the 13th
February I had a CT scan and a week later I
had a bone marrow biopsy.
The next 3 weeks my wife
and I attended the funeral's of my golf mate
Manuel and my brother-in-law Colin both of
them died from complications caused by
cancer and not the cancer itself.
We had just returned home
from my brother-in-laws funeral when on the
Tuesday Doctor Issa rang to say she would
like to see me urgently. She said she was
sorry to inform me that the results of all
my tests showed I had stage 4 cancer and
needed to commence chemo therapy as soon as
it could be arranged.
Stage Four cancer:
I put the phone down my
eye's welled up I said to my wife "Lex" the
doctor wants to see me urgently, she say's I
have got stage 4 cancer. "At that moment the
tears started to flow, Lex and I hugged each
other and cried our eye's out, it was our
sad time. It was like our life was about to
crash and burn.
I think it all came to a
head with the death's from cancer of family,
close friend's and loved one's. It was like
I had been handed a death sentence.
A week later I took sick
leave from my place of employment and about
this time a close work colleague Troy came
to visit me. He had just returned from the
funeral of his father who also had cancer.
While we were talking Troy lent me a book on
cancer titled "Cancer - Step Outside The
Box" by author Ty M. Bollinger.
Over the next 5 months
this book was to have a profound impact on
my cancer recovery. This book taught me a
lot about cancer and more importantly about
how to beat cancer.
As a nurse with over 30
years experience I knew little about cancer
but that was all about to change. I decided
on my way to hospital for my first chemo
therapy session that nothing but a very
positive can do mental attitude was the way
to go. I repeated to myself "seek and ye
shall find", and "The lord helps those who
help themselves". These couple of mantra's
or sayings I repeated to myself many times
over the next 5 months of my cancer
treatment. I also believe in the power of
one's own mind to resolve issues and
therefore mind power should never be under
estimated. The use of one's own imagination
is another way of resolving issues.
Dreaming visualization and
imagination are thought's we all do it's
like the title of the book, thinking outside
the box or to as the title aptly says "Step
Outside The Box." World champion golfers
Tiger Woods of America and Greg Norman of
Australia rarely play a shot without first
going through their visualization skills of
seeing the flight of the ball from start to
finish.
I have a number of
positive saying's mantra's and jingles I
recite all the time so that I am able to
access my subconscious mind. The
subconscious mind never lies and it has
never let me down. The only requirement that
is needed is self honesty because you will
not fool your own subconscious mind.
In America they refer to
visualization and imagination as magic
thinking this is total garbage, rubbish I
hope I never have to rely on magic to do my
thinking for me.
The Little French boy:
About 10 years ago I
recall reading a true story about a little
boy in a hospital in France who was dying
from terminal lung cancer. Doctors had
stopped his chemotherapy and had given him 2
weeks to live. After the first week doctors
saw a marked improvement in the boys health.
By the middle of the second week puzzled
doctors decided to have the boy under go a
chest x-ray. The chest x-ray showed the boys
lungs were clear the cancer had gone.
Mystified the doctors asked the little boy
had he done any thing different over the
last 2 weeks.
The little boy told the
doctors that every day and every night he
would close his eyes tightly and asked his
hero Luke Sky Walker from the movie Star
Wars to come down and shoot the evil aliens
(his cancer cells) inside his body.
The little boy said "my
friend Luke Sky Walker did it doctor my
friend went bam, bam and killed the evil
aliens in my lungs". Dumbfounded the doctors
had no choice but to believe the boy because
there was no other reasons for them not to.
The story of this little
boy inspired me over the years and he is
always there in my thoughts, like my "bro's"
that have passed away, they will be in my
thoughts forever.
I also visualized my
deceased mate Manuel in a spiritual way. So
to stay positive I would see his face, his
big smile, his fist clenched punching the
air and saying "nice one bro". Manuel and I
had some good times on the golf course.
Chemotherapy:
I started chemo therapy
on 30th March 07. I was initially put on a
trial to test a new drug Rutuximab also
known as MabThera this drug apparently is a
very good drug for my type of cancer
according to my Haemotologist, who had just
returned from attending successful trials of
this drug in America.
After my first chemo
session, follow up blood tests showed
abnormal liver function results.
On 20th April 07 I had my
2nd chemo session and a blood test taken a
week later showed my liver levels to be so
high a decision by the liver specialist was
taken for me to cease the chemo trial
because of the risk of going into liver
failure. A liver biopsy was ordered
immediately.
On the 21st May 07 I
started on a new regime of chemo drugs
namely Mitoxantrone and Fludarabine. With
most chemo drugs there are side effects, my
hair fell out so I now wear a hair piece. I
take medication for gout, constipation,
nausea, mouth ulcer's and chronic fatigue.
The chemo drugs affected
my immune system, I was given antibiotics to
guard against infection. I became like the
boy in a bubble and stayed inside my home
until my immune system improved. I was on
toxic chemo drugs and then given more drugs
to counter the side effects of the chemo
drugs.
As a type 2 diabetic the 2
chemo sessions I had just completed created
havoc with my blood sugar levels and I ended
up as being a type 1 insulin dependent
diabetic. It required me to take massive
doses of insulin injections to keep my blood
sugar levels under control. Taking high
dose's of insulin was a blessing in disguise
because insulin is the key that opens the
door's of good cells and cancer cells, this
then enables the chemo drugs and the
alternative medicines to enter and destroy
the cancer cells.
The 21st May 07 is a
significant date, because not only did I
restart my chemo treatment but I also
started an alternative herbal regime (the
old apricot and apple seeds recipe)
mentioned in the book "Cancer - Step Outside
The Box" the book also mention's insulin
therapy and lucky for me I was already on
insulin.
On the 2nd June 07 I had a
blood test taken and a week later it showed
my liver was clear. The liver biopsy result
showed the cancer had not got into my liver
and my liver was back to normal.
On the 8th June 07 my
Haematologist ordered another CT scan and I
had commenced the second session of my new
chemo therapy.
On the 29th June 07 I saw
my Haematologist again and my wife and I sat
in that Doctors office while she bought up
the test results of my last CT scan on her
computer screen. The comments from my 2nd CT
scan stated there had been an excellent
response to treatment, my cancer had all but
disappeared. The extensive mass in the
abdomen had reduced in size to about 2cm,
pelvic appearances are normal, the left
inguinal adenopathy has resolved and lung
bases are clear.
Stage one:
My Doctor turned to me and
said "Victor your cancer has almost gone I
think I will re-grade you back to stage 1;
come let us go and tell the ward charge the
good news".
On our return home from
hospital my wife and I shed a few more tears
but this time they were tears of joy knowing
that by doing our homework as per the book
"Cancer - Step Outside The Box" I was 90% on
the road to a full recovery.
Stage Zero:
On Monday 13th August 07 I
commenced my 6th and final chemo treatment.
Doctor Issa spoke to me during her ward
round and said she was stopping my chemo and
then she said "Victor you are now stage zero
your cancer's gone and I am giving you a
clean bill of health". "Thanks doctor" I
replied then she said " Victor I will see
you again in about 10 weeks for a follow up
CT scan and a stem cell biopsy, we want to
store your stem cells in case your cancer
returns". As she carried on with her ward
round I looked at her and thought wow what a
wonderful person she is and cute. Her field
of expertise is Lymphoma's. As she was
leaving the ward she said "Victor you are
now officially in remission".
I replied "thank you for
everything doctor".
Remission:
The dictionary describes
remission as the reduction in length of a
prison term or the lessening of the symptoms
of disease. I chose self imposed home
detention because of my low immune system.
It meant I was vulnerable to infections like
colds, bugs, and flu's.
I am glad my chemo has
stopped because the side effects were really
tough on my body.
It's going to take months
for me to regain my health, strength, and
confidence.
I will continue on with my
apricot/apple seed recipe as well as my
other alternative treatments and review them
after I have seen my Haematologist Doctor
Issa in October 07.
Management will be wanting
me to get back to work soon, they have been
very kind and supportive to me. I hope to be
back at work by January 2008.
The alternative herbal
treatment:
I decided to follow
suggestions relating to herbal treatments as
per the book "Cancer - Step Outside The Box"
because I did not feel confident that chemo
therapy alone was the answer, so I started
the herbal process with a daily "body
cleanse". I figured being stage 4 I had
nothing to lose and everything to gain.
In the morning's I took
20mls of Aloe Vera juice, then 10mls of
prune juice on my weet-bix and I also drank
copious amounts of mineral (spring) water as
often as possible day and night.
As well as the above I
took apricot and apple seeds ground up and
added to a freshly juiced drink of 1 apple,
1 orange and 1 carrot daily. To complete the
herbal treatment I put myself on a strict
diet and nutrition programme.
Cancer Cells:
Did you know cancer cells
love sugar and fats and they hate oxygen,
water, apricots and apple seeds. Cancer
cells kill good cells and take on a life of
their own multiplying and in order to
multiply cancer cells produce their own
glucose their own insulin and they develop
their own blood vessels. Cancer cells live
by fermentation and as they ferment the
by-products they give off lactic acid and
carbon monoxide are both toxic to normal
body functions.
When cancer cells can not
get enough glucose they steal it from the
person's good cells hence the reason why
cancer patients are tired and suffer weight
loss. In my case the high dose's of insulin
made me feel hungry all the time, so
therefore I ate more and put on weight (1
stone).
Conclusions:
I used both conventional
and alternative treatments to help me to
beat my cancer and it proved to be a
successful combination. I did not tell
Doctor Issa that I was using alternative
medicines because I did not want to upset
her in any way. However I think I will tell
her after my last treatment. I have to say
that I believe Ty Bollinger's book "Cancer -
Step Outside The Box" helped me to recover
from stage 4 cancer.
I can not say if my
recovery was solely due to chemo therapy
alone or insulin or the apricot/apple seeds
or the body cleanse or the no sugar no fat
diet or the mental approach or the no
smoking or the early diagnosis of my
illness.
I believe the reversal of
my stage 4 cancer was due to all the factors
mentioned, they all contributed to my cancer
recovery.
With cancer there are no
guarantee's no one knows where the next
victim will come from or who it will be. We
all carry cancer cells within us and it does
not take much to go wrong for our good cells
all sixty trillion of them to be invaded by
cancer cells.
I think it is important to
battle cancer with every thing at one's
disposal because nothing but full on action
will do. To take the half hearted approach
to beating cancer is not good enough because
cancer can sit idle for years or it can be
swift and deadly. Cancer destroys and cancer
kills. I found out first hand the ravages of
cancer when it attacked me physically,
mentally emotionally and financially. Many
of my family, friends and work colleagues
said they would pray for me to get well,
because they know cancer truly is a
devastating disease.
My family, friends and
work colleagues must have had their prayers
answered because I am now well down the road
to a full recovery. "God Bless" them all.
In Retrospect:
The more I read about
conventional treatment for cancer the more I
am convinced cancer patients and innocent
caregivers are being "hoodwinked" and
"ripped off" by big drug companies. It
appears the almighty dollar or money is of
more value than a person's life.
I think those involved in
conventional and alternative cancer
treatments should work with each other as a
team rather than against each other.
Recently an Oncologist
said to me cancer is a "rich person's
disease" but if the cancer patient has the
money he/she will get the treatment.
I think my testimonial
would not be complete without mentioning
cancer statistics. Over the last 50 years
cancer survivors were shown to be in the 3%
to 4 % range and wait for it today's
statistics show cancer survival rates to
still be in the 3% to 4% range.
These statistics come from
the most up to date book on cancer remedies
on the planet, "Cancer - Step Outside The
Box." What these stats tell us is that
nothing has changed in the delivery of
conventional cancer treatments in over 50
years. Its like someone has pushed the
pause/stop button on conventional cancer
treatment 50 years ago and it shows with the
low cancer patient recovery numbers.
The low cancer survival
figures are not a good read for cancer
patient confidence. The cancer treatment
records is conspicuous for its failures
rather than its successes. Lack of progress
means cancer treatments are set up more to
fail rather than succeed.
The last day of August is
officially "Cancer Day" here in New Zealand.
It is a day where people donate money to
help the fight against cancer. It's the
first day of spring where there's a coming
to life of millions of flowering daffodils,
yellow ones, orange ones and white ones.
It's usually a sea of beautiful colours in
gardens, paddocks, shops and supermarkets
every where. Daffodil flowers and Cancer Day
are synonymous, they go together.
On the 31st of August I
hope to sit back and listen to some
favourite music of mine like "standby me"
sung by John Lennon who sadly was shot and
killed a few years ago outside his
apartment in New York.
John Lennon was part of
the Fab Four the Beatles and he once said
quote "Before Elvis there was nothing".
I have now come to realise
that before a man called Ty Bollinger came
along and switched on the light I was like
other cancer sufferers stumbling along in
the dark and I had no idea about cancer, I
knew nothing. But thanks to Ty and I'm not
promoting his book because his book
promotes it's self, I was able to reverse my
cancer from stage four to stage zero.
I have learnt a lot during
my seven months cancer ordeal and I have to
remain vigilant for the rest of my life,
because if the cancer were to return it
usually does so with a vengeance.
On reflection the the
first day of spring will forever be a
special day for me to remember for the kind
caring love and support of all those people
that have been prepared to "standby me".
I do
hope my testimonial offers real hope and not
false hope to other cancer patients.
My favourite saying's are
" battle hard", "never give up", "seek and
ye shall find" and "the Lord helps those
that help themselves".
Part Two
Since my cancer story was
posted on the internet in August 07 I have
received lots of complimentary emails from
all corners of the world.
Many emails are from
people seeking advice for their cancer or
advice for family or friends that have
cancer.
There are the hoax emails
but I guess it's the down side of the
internet that genuine web users have to live
with.
The wonders of internet
technology and the speed which information
is sent all around the world is quite
remarkable.
The internet helped me
beat cancer because I was able to get the
information I needed by email within a very
short time and I have made some very good
friends I know only by email.
While I had beaten stage
four cancer I was left with a few serious
medical dilemmas to contend with.
These medical dilemmas
were as follows; uncontrolled type one
diabetes, high doses of daily insulin,
angina pains, several mini heart attacks,
high cholesterol, breathlessness, poor
blood circulation to the lower limbs, lack
of fitness and over weight problems.
My medical problems began
to worry me and I knew I had to do something
but I was not sure how I was going to turn
things around.
Then on the 1st September
07 I received one of those out of the blue
emails from Wendy who lives on the other
side of the world in Vancouver B.C.
In her email Wendy said "I
enjoyed reading your cancer story on Ty
Bollinger's web site. I hope you continue
with full remission and good health".
Wendy went on to say "I
would like to know more about your diet
because I think diet is very important and
have you read The China Study a diet and
nutrition book by Colin Campbell".
I sent Wendy an email and
thanked her for her kind compliments, and
promised I would go and buy the book.
On the 15th September 07
my step son Pedro (his real name is Peter)
turned up in his 1969 Valiant to fix my
fence which had blown over in a storm.
As he got out of his car
Pedro said "Well Vic I'm here to do your
fence mate".
I looked at him and said
"Its good to see you Pedro but I'm getting
these little angina pains every time I over
exert myself and I am a little worried I
could end up having a heart attack".
My step son was in the
process of unloading his tools from the boot
of his car when he stopped looked up at me
and said "Vic I think you should rest up
I'll do the fence".
As he began digging the
post holes Pedro asked "How come your lawns
are so long Vic". "Someone stole my lawn
mower Pedro" I replied.
Pedro stopped digging,
lent on his spade and shook his head in a
moment of disbelief.
"Well that's sad your
fence's blown over you can't do anything
because you've got cancer and some low life
comes along and steals your lawn mower it
stinks and its probably one of your cussie
bro's to boot".
I didn't like what my step
son said but conceded his assumption was
most likely correct.
"It's not worth getting
upset about Pedro, I will merely go out and
buy another mower and in future make sure
it's securely locked away", I replied.
For the next six hours
Pedro and his mum, my darling wife Lex,
toiled away repairing the fence. It was a
sunny day, one could say ideal weather for
fencing.
I did feel a little guilty
not being able to help so set about cooking
a nice lunch.
When lunch was ready I
called out "foods on the table come and get
it". During lunch I made the big
announcement that I was about to become a
full on vegetarian.
Pedro reacted by saying "I
thought you had beaten cancer Vic?"."I have
Pedro" I replied, and then went on to say,"
to insure my cancer stays away and never
comes back and to over come my medical
dilemmas changing to a vegetarian diet in my
opinion is the best way to go".
Pedro replied jokingly "
Vic the way your going you could end up
turning into a cabbage or a pumpkin by
midnight". I smiled and said "well at least
I'll be still around to laugh at your
jokes". Pedro went on to say "I love my
meat, I'm not changing and looking at his
mum asked "what about you Ma?". Lex
replied " I love my meat I'm not changing
either son".
After lunch Pedro said
"come on Vic I'll take you for a ride in my
old pride and joy I need to go to the
hardware store to get more nails for the
fence".
On our way to the store
Pedro asked "so what's the go with this
vegetarian diet Vic, is this another idea
you got from Ty Bollinger's book or what?".
"You are correct Pedro I
did get the idea from Ty's book and it was
Colin Campbell's diet and nutrition book
that convinced me to change to the whole
plant food vegetarian diet".
Pedro went on to say
"anyway how many people in the world are
vegetarians?".
"About 1%" I replied. "How
come it's only 1% " Pedro asked.
There's many reasons
Pedro" I replied and went on to say "the
answer to good health often depends on what
you eat". "You grew up on a farm didn't
you?" Pedro asked." Yes I did and I can
remember having milk on my porridge straight
from the cow every morning before I went to
school".
I went on to say that 2500
years ago Greek scholars like Plato,
Hippocrates and Socrates predicted that
eating animal foods led to bad health and
that eating plant food led to good health
and a ripe old age.
I then said "So its
nothing new Pedro. In fact the debate over
what we should and should not eat has been
going on for a great many years now and
looks set to continue for many years to
come".
Pedro
was driving a tad fast and we hit a judder
bar hard, there was a loud bang, and I
thought the drive shaft was going to come
crashing through the floor to meet us.
Pedro looked over at me
and said "Oops sorry about that how's your
heart?".
My heart's okay Pedro
how's your resuscitation skills?". For some
reason for the rest of our little journey it
was a nice slow trip.
On our return home Pedro
carried on with the fence and finished about
4.30pm. So I shouted him a couple of beers
and helped him to put his tools away.
Pedro had almost finished
his second stubby when he glanced up at me
and said "you know Vic, um, I didn't realise
the strife you and mum had been through
until I read your cancer story on Ty
Bollinger's web site".
"What did you think of my
story Pedro" I asked. "Darn good Vic I think
your story must be very encouraging for
others". "Yes I have had some neat emails" I
replied. "Yeah its a good story and it
nearly bought tears to my eyes" replied
Pedro.
He then got in and fired
up his old 1969 Valiant looked up at me and
said "so you reckon the vegetarian diet is
the way to go do you Vic". "Yes most
definitely Pedro" I replied.
As he was about to drive
off Pedro stuck his hand out the car window
and said "You take care Vic".
"Thanks for fixing the
fence mate it's been a good day" I replied.
We shook hands and Pedro drove slowly off in
his old 69.

Peter - Vic's Step Son
The next day on Sunday
16th September 07 I started on the whole
plant food vegetarian diet and in just three
days my diabetic blood sugar levels, much to
my amazement, had returned to normal.
Thirty days later my blood
results showed my liver and my cholesterol
levels and my other blood levels had all
returned to within normal range and I am now
no longer on any insulin injections.
The most astounding turn
around in my health had to do with the mini
heart attacks and the angina pains that I
was experiencing at fairly regular
intervals, these attacks were beginning to
worry me.
These high risk signs and
symptoms were indicative of possible serious
consequences to my health. Luckily since
starting the vegetarian diet I have not
suffered one single heart attack or any
angina pains, it has been quite remarkable.
I have even tried within
reason to over exert my exercise work outs
but these strenuous work outs did not cause
me any heart problems. This would not have
been the case before I started on the
vegetarian diet.
To those who may
experience similar heart problems get to
your doctor immediately or call emergency
services as soon as possible.
I did worry about my heart
problems because I had four cousins all
brothers that I had grown up and socialised
with, that were all big healthy strong men,
but sadly they all passed away before the
age of 50 years.
The cause of their demise
was 'heart attacks'. In New Zealand the
biggest killer is heart failure closely
followed by cancer.
It could be said that the
improvement in my medical health was due to
the stoppage of my chemotherapy on the 12th
September 07. This analysis is true to a
degree.
None the less I am
convinced the improvement in my health is
90% diet related. The sudden return to
normal of my diabetes blood sugar levels in
just three days was due to the new
vegetarian diet, 'no question about it'.
There is no other logical reason.
Its now the 7th of
November 2007 and my health continues to
improve and another reason for my becoming a
vegetarian is knowing my cancer is now
dormant but could return in five or six
years time.
This means my cancer is in
remission or like the North American grizzly
bear gone into hibernation and I hope that
by being on the vegetarian diet that this
will keep the cancer causing enzymes at bay
and ensure my cancer stays away permanently.
In conclusion, I now have
all the information I need I call it 'the
good oil' and first hand experience of what
it takes to beat cancer, heart attacks,
angina pains, high cholesterol, obesity and
diabetes.
I have passed this cost
saving information onto many of my email
friends who tell me the information has
saved them financially and its helped to
ease their uncertainty about what to do and
where to look for advice, encouragement,
help and support.
There was a dark time
during my cancer ordeal where the
encouraging emails helped me through my
illness and I have come to realise 'that
there are some really awesome people in the
world'.
While I may have beaten
cancer there are many who have been taken by
this dreadful disease. Cancer is all
embracing and whilst battles against cancer
are not always successful one should stay
positive as Sir Winston Churchill said
"never, never give up".
The final word goes to
Dawn of Omaha Nebraska U.S.A. who said in
her email to me "God bless and keep on
telling everyone your story".
Dawn was given three
months to live by her doctors using
conventional treatment so she opted to go to
Mexico where she was commenced on the old B17
apricot treatment.
The treatment worked and
Dawn has now been free of cancer for thirty
one years.
Dawn went on to say "when
it seems there is no hope, there still is
hope, ya just have to pray and look a little
harder for the answer".
I can think of no better
ending, Dawn's email says it all. Folks, do
not hesitate to
email me.
There are many people that have thanked me
for passing on 'the good oil' to them and I
do believe 'one good turn deserves another'.
"Kia Ora
Tatou" and God Bless!
